Almost 2,000 people voted in each part of Round 1 of our 2016 Beer Bracket Challenge, and the results from the first round are in. Sixteen of the initial 32 beers have been eliminated, and the competition is about to start heating up.

Some of the races were very close, while some were total slam dunks. The unstoppable Goose Island Bourbon County Stout destroyed Finch's Beer Company Secret Stache Stout 77 percent to 22 percent, and Half Acre Daisy Cutter absolutely demolished 5 Rabbits with 83 percent of the vote. Half Acre is, in fact, one of the breweries to beat—Half Acre and Off Color were the only breweries to get both of their entries into the Sweet Sixteen. The other breweries that started with two brews—including Goose Island, Revolution and Begyle—were either knocked out entirely (no love for Revolution!) or taken down to one beer.

Now it's time to vote on the Sweet Sixteen. Voting will remain open until Sunday, April 17 at midnight. Let the best beer win!

UPDATE: We're keeping the voting open until Monday, April 18 at Midnight because of the high response rate. Vote away!
