Since Ravinia first announced its star-studded 2016 lineup in early March, the outdoor Highland Park venue has been adding major new performances to its roster at a steady clip. First, Dolly Parton; now, Lauryn HIll. Hill will perform at Ravinia on Sept. 1.

Hill first appeared in the public eye as the singer (and only woman) in hip-hop trio The Fugees. In the late '90s, she split with the group to pursue a solo career, and in 1998 she released her solo album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, which won her five Grammys, including "Best New Artist." (She beat out the Backstreet Boys to win that one.)

Today, Miseducation remains Hill's only solo effort. She dropped out of the public eye in 2000, and for more than a decade, she only resurfaced for sporadic shows. Recently, though, she's re-emerged somewhat. She contributed to the soundtrack of 2015's Nina Simone documentary What Happened, Miss Simone?, and she's been performing more than usual—she appeared at at Chicago's House of Blues in 2014, and in early March of this year, she announced a tour.

At Hill's Ravinia show, gates will open at 5 p.m., and the show is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $95, or $38 for lawn seats, and go on sale April 26 at 5 a.m on the Ravinia website. See the full Ravinia calendar here.
