Last week, we found out that the city had shut down the Parthenon restaurant in Greektown after two failed health inspections. The restaurant is now back open for business.

As we reported last week, fans of the restaurant had been told that the spot was closed for "remodeling" after the Parthenon failed health inspections on March 22 and 29th - including some pretty nasty reports of pests.

According to DNAInfo, the place is back open for business, and has been serving since last Friday. The kitchen has been renovated, with new appliances installed, and, presumably the pest problems have been fixed.

We called to confirm, and co-owner Joanna Liakouras said that the kitchen had indeed been renovated. She said there were no new appliances, but that they had installed new kitchen flooring, additional stainless steel on the walls, and new stainless steel counters. "There were a lot of different things that were replaced," she said.

We tried to ask her whether the pest problems that led to the shutdown had been resolved, but she declined to discuss that, saying she had a family emergency.
