Man Fatally Hit By Blue Line Train At Belmont This Morning

Blue Line train service was temporarily disrupted this morning after a man was struck and killed by an O'Hare-bound Blue Line train near the Belmont station, officials said.
A 55-year-old man jumped in front of the train at 6:55 A.M. and was pronounced dead on the scene, according to officials at the Chicago Police Department. The incident has been declared a suicide.
Blue Line service towards O'Hare was suspended between the Western and Jefferson Park stops due to the incident, according to CTA announcements. The Blue Line has since resumed normal service.
If someone you know exhibits warning signs of suicide: do not leave the person alone, remove any firearms, alcohol, drugs or sharp objects that could be used in a suicide attempt, and call the U.S. National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 800-273-TALK (8255) or take the person to an emergency room or seek help from a medical or mental health professional.
