Stunning Photos Capture Monday Night's Lightning Above Chicago

By Rachel Cromidas in News on Apr 26, 2016 8:22PM

Before Monday's 80-degree evening gave way to this chilly Tuesday, lightning lit up the sky over Chicago. Several photographers captured the moment on Instagram, including Derek Georgevich and Instagram user Caltheme.

Some reddit users suggested that one photo, which shows the sky over Lake Michigan in shades of purple, was a sign that the singer Prince, who recently passed away, is watching over the Midwest—his home region. The second photo, taken by Georgevich at about 9:45 p.m. and also shared on Reddit, looks more "like a scene out of Ghostbusters," he wrote.
