Video: Michelle Makes Fun Of Barack's Ears In New 'Southside With You' Trailer

"I mean, they did look good on Dumbo," Michelle Robinson (Tika Sumpter) jokes, reaching out to touch Barack Obama's (Parker Sawyers) ears at the end of the new trailer for Southside with You, released Thursday.

The trailer teases the upcoming film adaptation of the First Couple's first date in 1989, back when they were both were in their 20s. It's set in Chicago, and shot here, too. As we noted when the last trailer came out, the Obamas' first date is already part of American folklore at this point (Baskin-Robbins! Do The Right Thing!). The movie version, though, is an even more action-packed composite of the Obamas' early history. They stop at a community meeting where Barack gives a speech; they're also visiting what looks like the lakefront when Michelle ribs Barack about his ears.

Based on how the two Fauxbamas shift from teasing to earnestness throughout the trailer, this movie is going to be much better than its "Based on an inspiring true story" branding suggests. After it premiered at Sundance, Variety called it "disarmingly romantic" and Consequence of Sound gave it a solid "B." We're excited to see it, pick out Chicago landmarks in the background, and probably cry when it comes to theaters on Aug. 26. We have a feeling the lions at the Art Institute will make a cameo.
