Since the Cubs made it to the National League Championship Series last October for the first time in years, we've been wondering whether some of the predictions of the film series Back to the Future are destined to come true.

Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz is now the latest to speculate that we are in fact in the time-traveling movie's alternate, "bad" timeline; the one in which the Cub's don't make it all the way to the World Series, but a certain blonde-haired hotel entrepreneur with a passion for putting his name on the sides of buildings has risen to power.

"If anyone has seen the movie Back to the Future II, the screenwriter says that he based the character Biff Tannen on Donald Trump—a caricature of a braggadocios, arrogant buffoon who builds giant casinos with giant pictures of him wherever he looks. We are looking potentially at a Biff Tannen presidency," Cruz told reporters at press conference in Indiana Tuesday morning as the state's May 3 primary kicked-off.

After this statement, a reporter off-camera wisely commented that Cruz's Biff Tannen analogies are "some of the strongest words you've used against Donald Trump yet."
