Photos: UChicago's Wonderful, Wacky Annual Scav Hunt Takes Over Hyde Park

For four days last week, the University of Chicago campus and surrounding Hyde Park played host to the strangest, if not the largest, organized scavenger hunt in the world—Scav Hunt, the annual excuse for university students, alumni, and an untold number of unwitting Chicagoans to vanquish a list with hundreds of challenges and items to scavenge or build.

We checked out the commotion on Saturday afternoon, just in time to catch the annual, one-day Scav Olympics, in which teams competed to see who could LARP in a shopping cart, throw staples into nets of teammates' hair, wheelbarrow race and tie shoes upside-down the fastest and the best. No, it makes no sense to us, either.

Beyond that, teams had to compile over 284 items worth of stuff, so your guess as to what else is going on in these photos is as good as ours.
