A West Humboldt Park man was arrested Tuesday afternoon when Connecticut State Police allegedly recovered over 25 pounds of heroin from the suspect’s vehicle, according to a statement from the department.

Troopers stopped José Adorno at approximately 1:30 p.m. in a Toyota Camry for a moving violation. While speaking with Adorno, police were alerted of possible narcotics, according to authorities. The subsequent investigation, which included a drug-sniffing canine team, uncovered 11 packages of suspected heroin.

Adorno is currently being held on $1 million bond and is expected in court Wednesday. He faces charges of possession of over one kilogram of heroin and possession with intent to sell. Trooper First Class Kelly Grant of the CSP Public Information Office did not comment about Adorno’s possible involvement in a larger criminal enterprise, and stated his destination was unknown.

Neighborhoods on Chicago’s West Side have been grappling with drug markets and narcotics dealing for several years.
