Our long national TSA nightmare has seen some improvement, as security waits at O'Hare International Airport have dropped compared to last week's debacles. But don’t expect to be entirely rid of the hassle in the coming month. According to a report by MileCards.com, June is the worst month of the year for flight delays, and O’Hare ranks fourth overall among Worst Airports for On Time Summer Travel.

Only 75.4 percent of flights arrived on time from 2010 to 2015, and O’Hare posted a below-average 72.7 percent during that time. Only Newark, San Francisco and New York-La Guardia fared worse.

The report noted three additional less-than-encouraging findings: O'Hare ranks 10th worst overall for wait times; next-to-worst for gate waits after landing; and the airport comes in at third “most miserable,” a metric that weighs on-time arrivals, takeoff waits, and landing waits. (Newark was "awarded" most miserable overall.)

The past week has seen O’Hare and Midway receive a surge of TSA resources, which helped improve waits. But the problem remained bad enough nationwide to cause the ouster of TSA head of security Peter Neffenger Tuesday.
