Starting Tuesday, the Chicago Water Taxi system began serving a new, weekdays-only dock, located at 600 W. Chicago Ave. Typically, a ride on Chicago's water taxi is $4, but trips to and from the Chicago dock are free through Friday in celebration of the opening.

The new dock will be part of the water taxi's River North route, which will now hit the Chicago dock as well as longer-standing docks at Ogilvie/Union, the Loop and North/Sheffield. The Chicago Water Taxi announced the stop's opening on Facebook Wednesday:

The 600 W. Chicago office complex, where the stop is located, houses assorted local tech firms, including Groupon (where, full disclosure, I used to work) and Belly. Curbed reports that the building not only just got an ultra-convenient water taxi dock,;but also has acquired appropriate permits to build a rooftop deck.
