Friday is Free Donut (Doughnut?) Day! This awesome holiday originally started as a fundraiser created by the Salvation Army, "when Salvation Army workers served coffee and donuts to soldiers in the trenches," according to the official history. There are some awesome places to get free donuts all over Chicago, so get ready to spend extra time at the gym this weekend.

Let's get the big one out of the way first. At Dunkin' Donuts, you can get a free classic donut tomorrow with the purchase of any beverage.

Beaver's Coffee and Donuts is giving away free sugar dusted mini donuts or free mini donut milkshakes out of their truck and their location in the French Market.

Stan's Donuts and Coffee is giving away a free glazed donut with any coffee or gelato purchase.

There are also some fun donut specials. Doughnut Vault will be showing off a hard-to-find flavor, Chocolate Cherry Old Fashioned, made from a new recipe. Kanela Breakfast Club is serving a donut-inspired dish, a coffee cake streusel short stack topped with an espresso créme anglaise. Firecakes has teamed up with DMK to do donut milkshakes.

If you aren't in a sugar coma tomorrow, you aren't trying hard enough.
