Man Charged In Fatal Hit-And-Run Drove Car With 'DO R DI' License Plate

Police have charged a man with reckless homicide after a hit-and-run crash in Avondale killed one and seriously injured another Sunday morning.
Jason Missak, 33, was allegedly driving a Jaguar with "DO R DI" on the state license plate. A Sun-Times reporter at the scene of the accident saw the license plate. He ran a red light at the intersection of Kedzie and Belmont avenues while driving west around 7 a.m., according to police, and hit the passenger side of a Chevy heading north. One passenger of the Chevy he hit, Carmen Maria Vanegas, 62, died at 7:39 a.m., according to police. Her husband, 64, whose name has not been released by police, was driving at the time, and taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in serious conditon.
Missak was arraigned on several felony charges, which also included two counts of leaving the scene of an accident involving injury or death, Tuesday afternoon.
