A six-year-old girl was shot in the back in Logan Square Monday night. She is currently in the hospital in critical condition.

At 8:10 p.m., the girl was playing outside a home hosting a party in the 2100 block of North Bingham, a residential block just south of Milwaukee Avenue, police said. The shooter pulled up in a car, opened fire, and fled. The girl was taken to St. Mary's in critical condition, then transferred to Stroger Hospital.

An unnamed neighbor told the Sun-Times the block where the shooting occurred was the site of an onging gang turf war, and had been the site of two other shootings since 2015. The city's crime map shows no other shootings on the block in the past year.

Another unnamed source told the Sun-Times that the six-year-old lives in the same block where she was shot.
