Residents and visitors to the Near North area are advised to beware following an increase in robberies during the month of June, according to a police alert released Saturday.

Reported incidents have occurred during daytime hours, with one occurring on the 600 block of North Dearborn on June 7, at roughly 11 a.m., and another taking place the same day along the 0-100 block of East Walton, around 11:30 a.m.

The offender has approached victims from behind, demanding property while suggesting he is armed, according to police. He is described as a black male, 20 to 25 years old, of average height and weight.
