Every year, San Pellegrino sponsors the World's 50 Best Restaurants, a listing created by over 1000 voting judges who include food writers, chefs and restaurant owners. Chicago only got one entry on this global list, and no surprise, it's Alinea.

The acclaimed restaurant, which recently re-opened after a total overhaul (which makes the ranking perhaps slightly less-current, since most of the judges probably hadn't tried the new version) is number 15 on the list. The top position is now held by Ostera Francescana in Modena, Italy. The top American restaurant is Eleven Madison Park in New York, which took the #3 spot.

Alinea has bounced around the list in recent years. In 2015, it dropped to number 26, while in 2014, it was number 9. The restaurant hit its peak, at least as far as this award is concerned, in 2011, when it rose to the #6 restaurant in the world.

Congratulations to the winners!
