Two armed robbers have been holding up restaurants in Lincoln Park, police warned in a new community alert.

The two men reportedly entered the restaurants armed with a handgun, "announced a robbery," and demanded the employees give them money from the cash registers. They then fled. The men are described as black, 5'10" to 6'00", between 35 and 45 years old, and weighing 220 to 255 lbs.

: The first robbery took place around 1:30 p.m. on May 20 at a Subway at 2008 N. Halsted St. Police released images from surveillance video from inside the Subway that appear to show the robber:

The second took place Monday evening at about 6:30 p.m. in the 1700 block of North Clybourn Avenue. It's also unclear where the robbery took place, but that block includes Jaimitos Burritos and Sushi Burrito.

Police recommend that people faced with a robbery like this never pursue fleeing assailants, but rather provide as much information as possible about their physical characteristics to the police. They also advice dialing 911 as soon as possible and remaining on the scene, collecting contact information from witnesses and saving video surveillance whenever possible.
