Apparent Shooting Death Captured On Facebook Live Video

A video posted to Facebook appears to show the shooting death of a man in the North Lawndale neighborhood Wednesday evening. The 28-year-old man, identified as Antonio Perkins, was shot on the 1600 block of South Drake around 8:45 p.m., according to police. the victim suffered gunshots to the neck and head, and was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators are aware of the video, police confirmed to Chicagoist. As of this afternoon, no suspects have been taken into custody. The victim is a documented gang member, according to police, and the department is investigating from a possible gang-related motive.

The Facebook Live video captures Perkins, along with acquaintances, recording themselves drinking and hanging out on the sidewalk. At roughly the six-minute mark, several shots can be heard, followed by calls for help. The device falls to the ground, continuing to record the scene.
