A Red Line train fatally hit a woman in the Loop Tuesday night, according to authorities. At 10:52 p.m., the northbound train hit her on the tracks, a CTA spokesperson said.

The 35-year-old woman was pinned under the train and declared dead at the station, a Chicago Fire Department spokesperson told reporters.

Due to the accident at 230 S. State St., power was rerouted between Fullerton and Cermak-Chinatown Red Line stops, and a bus ran in lieu of Red Line service between the Fullerton and Clark and Lake stops, according to a CTA spokesperson. Normal Red Line service resumed just after 2:30 a.m.

This woman was the second person hit by a train on Tuesday. That morning, a teenage boy walking on the Metra tracks on the far South Side was hit by a train and hospitalized in "very critical" condition.
