July 6

Sommelier for a Day
III Forks

5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
$20 per person. 

III Forks' wine specialist Jessica Marshall-Bruckner will lead guests through a sampling of six different wines from France paired with an array of hors d'oeuvres by Executive Chef Cedric Harden. Guests taste each wine, then vote on their favorites, which will be featured for the month.

Wine distributors will pour samples inside retail businesses throughout Lakeview East. Sweets shops in the neighborhood will also be sampling sweets along the routes.

New to wine? Want to learn the basics in a down-to-earth, no nonsense setting at a real winery with a real sommelier? The City Winery bootcamp offers guests a clear, concise education. The course includes six wines, course materials and some crusty bread.

Course Objectives - An introduction on the following topics:
How to Taste. How to Talk: Introduction on wine vocabulary and communicating your preferences to a sommelier. Culture, history, geography, grapes, vintage, the winemaker and more.

Midwest Style German-American Grill Out

Free to attend, price based on consumption.

A celebration of the strong German heritage in the Midwest and an excuse to revel in riesling, which is perfect for the summertime. Sheboygan brats on Sheboygan hard rolls with German potato salad and house-made sauerkraut for $12 and select German rieslings like they’re going out of style for $7 a glass. There will be a raffle with prizes and instead of face painting, temporary 'Riesling' knuckle tattoos.
