Let's all forget our grown-up notions that Slip 'N' Slides are wet plastic death traps, (or, at the very least, brutal knee-and-elbow-skinning contraptions) for just a moment and marvel at the epic giant Slip 'N' Slides headed to Montrose Beach at the end of the month.

On July 30, Slide the City, a company that totes its padded (the company's site promises its products have "more cushion than your grandpa’s orthopedic sneakers"), blocks-long slides around the country and promotes water conservation, will open three 300-foot slides along the beach's Cricket Hill.

Sliders can take on the slippery attraction on a required inflated tube as many times as they can within their chosen three-hour window (9 a.m. to noon, or noon to 3 p.m.) for $30 until this weekend, $35 after this weekend and before July 22, $40 after that or $45 the day of. Group passes and all-day ride tickets ($75) are also available. The event will also feature live music, food, water and other drinks. Slip 'N' Slide afficiados who can't make it that day also have the option of taking their turns in Carpentersville on July 23.

Hey, if you enjoy slipping and sliding half as much as these guys, this sounds like a pretty sweet Saturday. Your mom bringing you and your friends a refreshing plastic pitcher of Kool-Aid after you're done like the old days not included.

Tickets are available here.
