The folks at Women & Children First in Andersonville must have heard our prayers to one day meet and befriend Broad City's Abbi Jacobson IRL. The bookstore announced Monday that Jacobson will be stopping by Chicago to promote her forthcoming book of drawings, Carry This Book, in October.
As if that news weren't thrilling enough, the event will also feature Chicago author Samantha Irby, the woman behind the hilarious "Bitches Gotta Eat" blog. Irby will be chatting with Jacobson and signing books alongside her in Edgewater's Senn High School Auditorium in on Friday, Oct. 28, three days after Jacobson's book comes out. This is just one piece of the pair's collaboration, though Irby told NewCity in May that she and Jacobson first made contact when Jacobson cold-emailed her, asking if Irby would develop a TV show with her. "i still almost can’t believe it’s real," Irby told NewCity in her trademark all-lowercase email.
Tickets, which go on sale August 2, are $25 and include the price of Jacobson's book. Ilana Glazer, Jacobson's comedic partner and co-creator on her Comedy Central hit unfortunately won't be in attendance (as far as we know) but, hey, we can't have everything.
Here's the promo from the bookstore, which features a fantastic shot of the pair:
