Update, 4:45 p.m.:
The family has identified the victim as Tacarra Morgan, according to reports. The girl was on the porch with family members “enjoying, as any other child should, a warm summer day on their block,” Escalante said at the news conference.
Multiple vehicles stopped on South Paulina, then someone from the group fired shots into a crowd. Morgan was not an intended target, according to police.
No one is in custody, but police said they are searching for a white SUV.
The girl is in critical but stable condition, according to CPD Communications Director Anthony Guglielmi.
