Expect Metra Delays Of Up To 15 Minutes Throughout This Heat Wave

Chicago is in for "dangerous heat" on Thursday and Friday, and insane temperatures could even last through Saturday, the National Weather Service reports.
Not only is it important to stay hydrated and generally apocalypse-ready during this time—you should also leave a little extra time for Metra trips. Trains will be running at lower speeds in the heat, Metra announced in a statement, resulting in 10- to 15-minute delays. The slower speeds help "compensate for heat related stress on our track, switches, and signals," Metra explained.
They "regret any inconvenience," though, so that's nice.
