Police are warning Wicker Park residents of a series of armed robberies that occurred last week, according to a new police alert.

Three robberies happened last week just off the neighborhood's main drags. According to police, in each incident couples were approached on the sidewalk by armed men and robbed. The first incident was reported on Sunday, July 24, at 9:45 p.m., in the 2000 block of West Pierce Avenue; and two on Saturday July, 30, the first at 10:45 p.m. in the 1900 block of West Evergreen Avenue and a second at 11:05 p.m., in the 1700 block of North Honore Street.

All three stickups occurred less than a half-mile from the main intersection of North Damen Avenue and North Milwaukee Avenue.

According to police, the offenders have brandished a handgun, forced their targets to lie down on the ground and then stolen wallets and cell phones.

Police describe the suspects as black men, 18 to 20 years old, between 5' 6" and 5' 10" tall, and between 120 and 140 pounds. They were seen wearing black hooded sweatshirts, according to police.
