Community Policing: A View from the Streets
Thursday, August 25, 7-9 pm

Join Blue Sky Bakery for a thought-provoking discussion on one of the biggest challenges facing Chicagoans: how police and community members can work together to reduce violence.

The panel will include a police officer who has also served as a Marine in Afghanistan. He will discuss his experiences with community-building in the Middle East, and how it informs his current work.

Several youth enrolled in the Blue Sky Bakery transitional jobs program will also participate. These youth live in some of the most violent neighborhoods in the US, and have a complex relationship with the criminal justice system.

Moderating the conversation will be Stephanie Kollman, Policy Director of the Children and Family Justice Center at Northwestern.
