A new alert from the Chicago Police Department is warning of a trend of armed robberies on the CTA Red Line.
The alert, sent out Tuesday afternoon, said robbers armed with knives have been taking property from people riding the northbound Red Line toward the Howard Street Station this month, always in the early morning. In each robbery, two or three 20-something year old black men with knives fled the trains at either the Jarvis or Howard street stations in Rogers Park, according to police.
The alert lists two specific incidents: One took place in the 1500 block of West Jarvis Street on Aug. 5 at 2:00 a.m., and another that took place in the 7500 block of North Paulina Avenue on Aug. 7 at 2:00 a.m.
