A 3-year-old child was inside a car when it was stolen early on Tuesday morning in Buena Park, according to police.
A 39-year-old man left his car running while he was delivering papers in the 4100 block of N. Marine Dr. He saw a white Nissan pull up behind his vehicle at around 5:00 a.m. A white male, between 20 and 25 years old, then drove off with the victim’s car—with the child inside—while another driver fled in the Nissan, police told Chicagoist.
The 3-year-old was then left, sitting in a carseat, in the 200 block of E. Superior, in River North, about 4.5 miles south of where the car was stolen.
The child was taken inside a nearby building, where authorities were notified. He was taken to Northwestern Hospital, listed in good condition and reunited with family.
Police do not have anyone in custody as of Tuesday morning.
