Amy Schumer's upcoming Naperville book talk has been cancelled, according to a press release from Anderson's Bookshop. The event cancellation is one of several Schumer has made today in the wake of a controversy involving a writer for her Comedy Central show, Kurt Metzger.

Schumer was scheduled to stop in Naperville Aug. 20 while on tour promoting her new book, The Girl With the Lower Back Tattoo. Her publisher Simon & Schuster cancelled the event, slated to be held at North Central College, Thursday morning.

News of Schumer's book release this week has been somewhat overshadowed by a building controversy over how to address rape in the comedy community, and some wildly insensitive comments Metzger, a friend and colleague of Schumer's, made on the subject on Facebook. Metzger went on something of a social media rampage this week in response to word that the Upright Citizen's Brigade had banned a comedian accused of rape. As Metzger's Facebook and Twitter comments grew more inflammatory, social media users began to call on Schumer, a vocal feminist who has worked with Metzger on her show Inside Amy Schumer for years.

Schumer initially blocked various Twitter users who were calling on her to speak out about his comments, and she eventually replied that she was "disappointed" in Metzger and that he does not currently work on her show, which is on hiatus. Meanwhile, Schumer appears to have cancelled a Long Island book talk and a Sirius Radio appearance Thursday.
