North Coast Music Festival isn't exactly normcore-free. Anytime thousands of people gather in the summer sun, there's going to be a healthy contingent of comfortable T-shirts and sensible shoes. But given North Coast's wide-ranging aesthetic M.O.—a sweaty mélange of jam bands, reggae, hip-hop, soul, house music, indie rock and, most definitively, EDM—the fashions tend to be a bit more arresting and imaginative than what you see at some of the festival's early-summer brethren. There's a lot of neo-hippie psychedelia and a splash of Renaissance Faire; but the profusion of rave fashion (literally) shines brightest—sculptural, candy-colored and just the right side of costume-y (except when it dances gloriously past that line.) Like the festival itself, the disparate styles may not always entirely coalesce, but they go hard trying.
