Have you ever been inside a massive Filipino grocery store before? Well, if you haven't had the opportunity to explore this cuisine (or if you just love seafood), get excited, because Seafood City, a warehouse-sized megastore, just opened at 5033 N. Elston Ave.

It's a wonderful surprise to see something as unique as Seafood City in a commercial development where you'd expect to see a Kohl's or a Target. Even driving past the store while it was under construction, we were intrigued to see what would be inside.

You can take a look for yourself in the gallery. The store stocks a huge variety of Asian food staples, tons of seafood (including some hard-to-find varieties common in the Philippines) and a wide variety of prepared foods. Another location of Jollibee (the Filipino fast-casual place that just opened its first Chicagoland location in July) will be coming to the supermarket, but hasn't opened yet.

We're definitely planning a more in-depth visit in the weeks to come, but for now, check out the photos.
