There were some surprising upsets in this round of the Chicagoist Best Pizza Bracket, as we're trying to narrow the 32 best pizza places in Chicago down to one crowd favorite. Let's get right to it.

In the last round, we had 16 contenders left. The big surprise this round wasn't who won and who lost, it was the margins. There were some big defeats this time. Apart Pizza Company beat Art of Pizza nearly 60/40, Pequod's destroyed Pizano's more than 70/30 and Roseangela's slaughtered JB Alberto's 84/16. Not a lot of close matchups this time around.

We're down to the final 8, with some surprising survivors. We honestly wouldn't have expected to see Apart last this long (though against Pequod's, we shall see if they make it another round), and none of the big Chicago pizzerias (Giordano's, Lou Malnati's, Pizzeria Uno) are still in the race. Looks like it'll be the little guys who win this contest.

Voting will remain open until Wednesday at 10 p.m. Vote!
