Beanie Weenie: Who Slapped That Dildo On The Bean?

If you happened to catch the, um, nutty visual this weekend of a dildo stuck to Chicago's most iconic piece of public art (pubic art?—ok, I'll stop), it appears you were probably the unwitting victim of some DIY viral marketing.

We came across the above image on Reddit on Thursday morning, posted by user justinwzig. He told us he saw Cloud Gate's new phallic friend on Sunday morning. The comment thread then eventually led the trail here, where it appears Virginia/New Jersey post-rock-y instru-metal quintet Au Revoir appear to be the culprits. Take it away, fellas:

According to the band's touring itinerary, they performed at the Beat Kitchen on Monday, so the timeline certainly jibes. It looks like they perform in Milwaukee tonight, where they will be pelted with sex toys as punishment for having turned good old fashioned juvenilia into a craven promotional arm. Right?
