Three teenage girls were accused of attacking and robbing women in the Loop after they turned themselves into police, according to charges released by the police department Friday afternoon.
Police were looking for the teenagers who committed a handful of Loop robberies, and released surveillance images showing one robbery in progress Thursday.
Police said the teens demanded property from female pedestrians walking on in the 100 block of North Michigan Avenue on Oct. 16 at 9:00 p.m. and in the 200 block of East Randolph Street at 9:12 p.m., and on Oct. 19 in the 0-100 block of East Van Buren Street at 10:00 p.m.
The teens allegedly battered their victims, who were alone at the times of the robbery, and fled with their personal belongings. They apparently turned themselves into police custody after police shared photos of them with the public.
Police did not release the identities of the teens because they are all juveniles, but the report said two of the teens are 15 years old and one is 13. One 15-year-old was charged with three felony counts of robbery; the other 15-year-old was charged with one felony count of robbery; the 13-year-old was charged with three felony counts of robbery and one misdemeanor count of battery. She was also issued a warrant.
The teens will be arraigned in juvenile court on Oct. 28.
