It was the celebration of the century in Wrigleyville Wednesday night, as Cubs fans collectively exhaled from watching surely the most tense, 10-inning baseball game of their lives and prepared to party into the night.
Our photographers were in Wrigleyville to capture the scene in all its glory and mayhem. According to city officials, about 14 people were arrested in total from among the revelers, "mostly for disorderly and reckless conduct," Office of Emergency Management spokeswoman Melissa Stratton told CBS. Cubs fans could be seen climbing street poles and trucks and throwing debris around long after the game ended shortly before 1 a.m. We also documented some of the earlier instances of mayhem last night.
Get ready for more later this week/early next: A Cubs parade, rally, and river-dyeing are on the horizon.
