The city was mum most of Thursday about whether or not the Chicago River would get indeed get a Cubs blue dye job, a possibility the Sun-Times reported on last week. But seemingly nothing can stand in the way of Cubs fever right now, and they made it happen.
The local plumbers union crews started adding the dye at around 7:15 a.m., and huge crowds were already starting to gather. The baseball twist on the classic St. Patrick's Day tradition kicks off what is shaping up to be the most monumental celebrations this town has ever seen.
