Video: Man Beaten On West Side As Group Shouts At Him For Voting Trump (Updated)

The victim, 50, reported being battered after what police called "a traffic-related altercation." Officers responded to the call around 12:48 p.m. on Wednesday in the 1100 block of S. Kedzie Ave. All offenders were unknown to the victim. One offender fled in the victim's vehicle after the incident, Officer Ana Pacheco, a police spokesperson. confirmed. The victim was taken to Mt. Sinai and listed in good condition.

A disturbing video posted to YouTube shows a man struck dozens of times on the West Side as onlookers shouted, “You voted Trump?,” “Beat his ass” and “Don’t vote Trump.”

The video below, posted by Patch, shows two men punching and kicking the victim near the intersection of South Kedzie Avenue and West Roosevelt Road, in North Lawndale. He is seen repeatedly punched and kicked in the head by two men as a third person goes through what appears to be the victim’s vehicle. At the end of the clip, a man is seen climbing into the car and closing the door.


A video clip posted by DNAinfo shows 12 seconds of additional footage in which a man appears to drive away with the car while the victim’s sleeve is in the door, pulling him upright along the car.

Officer Laura Amezaga, a CPD spokesperson, told Chicagoist that police are investigating the incident and no arrests have been made as of Thursday morning.

Thousands of anti-Trump protesters marched downtown on Wednesday night; five arrests were made, but none were for violent offenses at that mostly peaceful demonstration, police said.
