Welcome to the bandwagon, Pope Francis! Today the pope was gifted a Cubs hat and what looks like a signed baseball by local Archbishop Blase Cupich, who is in Rome for his promotion to Cardinal.

Cupich tweeted, "News of the @Cubs win reached all the way to the #Vatican! @Pontifex can now celebrate with us and he asks for our prayers! #FlytheW"

Okay, so maybe the pope maybe doesn't look that impressed, and maybe God has bigger fish to fry, like war-torn Syria or Donald Trump having access to nuclear codes. But I think Pope Francis will make a fine fan: Cubs fandom has revolved around a lot of beautiful ritual, a tight-knit community, and a lot of faith in the face of adversity. And there sure has been a whole lot of prayer involved.
