Photos: The Biggest Supermoon In 69 Years Rose Above Chicago

The even-bigger-than-usual supermoon rose above Chicago one last time on Monday night—and sky-gazers were not left disappointed.

Last night's moon was the closest supermoon we've seen since 1948, and experts say we won't see another of its kind for nearly 20 years. It was the perfect combination a full moon reaching perigree (or the closest point to Earth in the moon's orbit), while the moon, Earth and sun are also lined up.

Chicagoist photographer Tyler LaRivierve was out to document the awe-inspiring phenomenon in all its hyper-rare glory.
