The WITCH performance artists who hexed Logan Square's gentrifiers earlier this year are planning their next action for the Loop this Sunday in response to the results of the 2016 presidential election.

The ritual action will take place Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. at 46 E. Upper Wacker Dr., according to a Facebook event, in which the group says it will "promote positive change" and combat oppression:

Though the first version of this event was reported as "abusive," nothing can be farther from reality.

Join WITCH in a ritual action to promote positive change, where we will create a protective space and perform a participatory ritual against oppression.

ALL ARE WELCOME.

WITCH is a group that melds performance art, activism and the history of paganism as political resistance to address pressing social issues, such as gentrification and the lack of affordable housing in Logan Square and beyond. In a time when people around the U.S. are organizing and protesting in response to Donald Trump's presidential election and the disturbing choices he has made for his transition team, it makes sense for the group to hold another ritual. The previous ritual, which we documented here, involved the recitation of a hex and a performance inside a circle drawn on the ground with prayer candles lit inside it.
