Chicago Food Pantries Need Support. Here's Where To Help

Social services of all kinds find themselves in serious jeopardy here in Illinois. It was only a few months ago, in fact, that a coalition of social-service organizations, including those that provide assistance to the poor and homeless, sued Gov. Bruce Rauner for more than $100 million owed. And while the President-elect’s ire toward federal social services tends to be dominated by a repeal-and-replace anti-Affordable Health Care Act hard line, Donald Trump has made it clear that he sees program like food stamps as emblematic mostly of fraud and waste.
Those factors alone make as fine a time as any to give to your local food pantry, but also: it’s almost Thanksgiving, don't you know? So while the list of worthy local causes in the post-Trump landscape is seemingly infinite, take this time to consider a donation to one of the Chicago outlets fighting to alleviate hunger in your neighborhood.
