Police are asking for help in identifying a woman who allegedly violently assaulted another woman during an attempted robbery on a CTA Red Line, in the Near North Side.

At about noon on Oct. 26, a woman tried to grab another rider’s cellphone while the train was moving. The would-be thief wasn’t able to steal the phone, but she pulled the victim for her seat by the hair and tried to drag her from the train when it stopped at the North and Clybourn station.

Police released the photograph below of the suspected attacked. She fled with three women, one black and one white, according to a police alert.

Authorities ask anyone with tips about the incident to call 312.747.8382.
