Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-IL) won't attend President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration, he said on CNN's "New Day," in protest of Trump's rhetoric and policies.

Gutierrez explained that Trump "continues to spew hatred, bigotry and prejudice even after he said he was going to bring us all together," according to Politico. Gutierrez also said he can't attend the inauguration of "a man who’s going to appoint people to the Supreme Court and turn back the clock on women and turn back the clock on immigrants," KTLA noted.

Instead of attending the inauguration, Gutierrez and his wife will join marches in DC for the rights of women, immigrants and other groups, scheduled for the same weekend.

Trump's inauguration will be held on Jan. 20.
