Bob Odenkirk in Comedy Central's 'Drunk History'

Bob Odenkirk's episode of Drunk History aired last night on Comedy Central, wherein he tackled the events surrounding Steve Dahl's Disco Demolition of 1979. Odenkirk spoke to us over the phone about the experience.

"I was afraid of getting drunk, more than anything. Because I don't get drunk, and haven't been drunk in years and years and years," Odenkirk told Chicagoist. "I said I'd do it, and then I said wouldn't and pulled out. It just made me feel awful to think about getting drunk."

Drunk History creator Derek Waters eased Odenkirk's concerns, and helped guide the experience, helping Odenkirk to not get too drunk.

"I had 3 or 4 shots of tequila and 3 double gin and tonics. And I did all right! [Waters] gave me this stuff to drink before ... it's like super gatorade ... and you drink that two hours before and then one right before you go to bed, and it's pretty fucking great man."

So while Odenkirk was able to dodge too many harmful after effects, he assures us he did get drunk for the episode.

"I got drunk. I don't know what I did. I think I told the story pretty well and I know I laughed a lot, so I guess I felt good and enjoyed it," he said. "I genuinely have a fondness for the thing itself, and weirdly for what it kind of meant to me as a kid in Naperville ... it's a great moment that just makes me smile."

How would Saul Goodman rate his performance?

"Saul?!" Oh my god! I din't think he'd watch it or care! But he'd probably give me a 10 for truthfulness in a drunken state. He'd defend me in court for sure."
