In case the Cubs fans among us raised on “pics or didn’t happen” need to really drive the celebration home, the team announced on Thursday that a Midwest tour of the Commissioner’s Trophy—with hardware photo op, of course—will kick off Friday here in Chicago.
Fans can grab a photo with trophy on Friday between noon and 3 p.m. at the Cubs’ new pop-up shop on Michigan Ave. (Side news: the Cubs have a new pop-up shop on Michigan Ave.— 663 N. Michigan Ave, to be precise.) The store will be in business through April 2017, although no wonder if and when the trophy will head back after Friday.
It will however be making an appearance the following Thursday, December 15, at Chicago City Hall (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.) for all further Cubs-related Instagramming needs.
"We're excited to share our cherished trophy with fans this offseason as we celebrate such a historic World Series Championship," said Cubs Executive Chairman Tom Ricketts in a statement. "This year's World Championship team is unparalleled, and so are our fans. We can't wait for them to experience the joy of seeing this piece of history in person."
The Cubs will be sporting the trophy at other times and locations throughout the city before taking the tour on the road, further through Illinois, Indiana, Iowa and points beyond that don’t begin with “I.” But the team is being mum about other potential Chicago visits and ask fans follow @Cubs on Twitter and Instagram for updates, where they can probably enjoy a World Series GIF flashback or two in the meantime.
