It's not too cold outside for ice cream, right?

Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams is opening its third Chicago location next week off the Armitage Brown Line station. They're kicking off the Dec. 17 opening with a new menu item exclusive to the new shop, called "Street Waffles." Before you wrinkle your nose at the name, check out the description: The waffles are inspired by an 1896 recipe, made with "yeast raised overnight and baked on a very hot iron, giving them a cruller-like interior," and "served glazed (vanilla bean or salted maple) and wrapped in paper, perfect to eat on the go." Okay, now we're listening—though we probably will wait until the weather warms up for spring before taking Jeni's up on the on-the-go option.

Jeni's is also hosting an opening celebration on Dec. 16 at 7 p.m. at the new stores, offering free ice cream scoops and samples of the Street Waffles, plus coffee. The first 50 people will also get a free waffle and swag bag.

The new Jeni's is located at 900 W. Armitage Ave.
