With just one week left in 2016, make the most of it with some of the fun things on our radar.

MONDAY DECEMBER 26

WHITE CHRISTMAS ROCKTACULAR: It’s a free Monday show at Empty Bottle with White Mystery, VIETRAHM, and Electric Sheep. Rock out at 9 p.m. with these local rock bands in the spirit of Christmas.

BEST COMEDY NIGHT EVER: Best Night Ever hosts a holiday comedy show at GMan Tavern to benefit the Night Ministry beginning at 9 p.m. Reena Calm (Laugh Factory), Chris Redd (Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping, Laugh Factory), Jim Flannigan (Zanies) and more will perform. Entry is a $5 donation.


TUESDAY DECEMBER 27

TACO + BOURBON DINNER: Taco 'bout beer and bourbon at Tallboy Taco River North this Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. Lagunitas and Jim Beam will visit the restaurant for a special beverage and taco tasting featuring special paired cocktails, beer inspired tacos and dessert. Tickets are $30. For reservations, call 312-488-4917.

GIRL TALK: The monthly “squad” will be at the Hideout at 6:30 p.m. for their usual show, talking about sexism and more. Admission is $5 at the door.


WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 28

ALEX CHILTON BDAY BASH: Celebrate the late singer-songwriter’s legacy at the 12th annual birthday bash at Empty Bottle at 9 p.m. The musical prodigy got his start at a young age penning “The Letter” with The Box Tops, went on to front Big Star and an esteemed solo career. A ton of bands are slated to cover some of his best songs. Tickets are $8.

DIM SUM INTRO POP UP: Intro alumni Chef Stephen Gillanders, Chef CJ Jacobson and Chef Aaron Martinez host a modern dim sum pop up at the restaurant for two nights only. The menu is inspired by their travels through Asia and will feature elevated dim sum, noodles and rice and family-style feasts. For reservations, call restaurant at 773868-0002. Reservations are available from 5:30 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday.

GOOD RIDDANCE TO 2016: Cobra Lounge is throwing a holiday party that's happy to turn its back on the dumpster fire that was the last year. It'll be a power pop-tastic night of music with headliner Ryan Powers and the Secret Weapons, and double secret weapon opener Daniel Wade. Put on your dancing shoes because this is gonna be a party.


THURSDAY DECEMBER 29

HAPPY HOLIDYES EXTRAVAGANZA: Get yourself to Bottom Lounge on Thursday for their Happy Holidyes Extravaganza at 8 p.m. The Polkaholics will perform their legendary Christmas set and local Garage bands The Dyes and DJ Bailey Dee will also play. Tickets are $8.


FRIDAY DECEMBER 30

PATTI SMITH: The legendary Patti Smith is playing two shows at the Riviera this weekend, the first on Friday and then a special NYE show on Saturday. Smith and her band will perform Horses in a 70th birthday celebration. Tickets start at $45.

NEVERLAND PURITY BALL: It’s the 5th year for Neverland’s Purity Ball at Fantasy Nightclub beginning at 11 p.m. Top queer performers, hosts and DJs will head the event including Chicago powerhouses Shea CouleĆ© and The Vixen. Tickets are $29.99.
