Chicagoist's Year In Photos

We'd be hard pressed to find someone who wasn't thrilled to be saying goodbye to the year 2016 in a couple days. But 2016 had its bright moments—and if you're a Cubs fan, some very bright moments—and the ending of the year is always an occasion to reflect on its highs and lows.
For Chicago, some of those highs (the Cubs' miraculous winning streak; Chance the Rapper's seizing of every moment) and lows (The toll of gun violence; Trump's very botched visit to UIC and the ensuing political spin cycle) are obvious. We've rounded up 35+ of our favorite photos from the year that have a lot to say about what it was like to live in Chicago in 2016. There's Vic Mensa's show-stopping performances of "16 Shots," that time anti-Trump protesters climbed on top of a CTA bus, the goat butcher who passed out meat at Wrigley Field to banish the curse, Logan Square's ongoing gentrification battles, and so much more. Please take a look!
