It won’t be anything polar vortex-ian, thank the weather gods, but the mercifully manageable 40 degree reprieve of late is about to come to a screeching halt and give way to winter proper.
Starting with a temperature drop on Tuesday night, the rest of the week will see chilly temperatures throughout, including lows hovering around the single-digit mark, according to Weather.com. The wind chill will be a factor on Wednesday in particular, with blustery 20 mph winds in the forecast.
Beyond the falling temps, we could be see some light snow on Thursday, although according to the National Weather Service-Chicago, it would be mainly confined to the Far South. Either way, the benign pardon is over, Hopefully you didn't put your heavy coat too far out of reach.
