Chicago Foundation Offers Grants To Help Women During Trump's First 100 Days

The election of Donald Trump brought forth a wave of outreach and support for a seemingly endless spectrum of rights and benefits that could find themselves under attack in the new administration. Given the lousy track record of Vice President Mike Pence in particular on reproductive justice, one of those areas of concern was women’s rights. Now, with Trump’s inauguration on the horizon, a local women’s advocacy organization is stepping up to the challenge.

The Chicago Foundation for Women on Wednesday launched The 100 Day Fund, a campaign to ignite funding during the first 100 days of the Trump administration for local groups and activities that promote gender equality.

The CFW will offer grants, ranging between $500 and $2,500, through April 30 to groups that focus on “issues affecting women and girls in the Chicago region.” “Projects and activities that support and expand the engagement and leadership of women of color are especially encouraged,” according to CFW.

“We have seen a surge of interest in supporting local efforts to advance equity for women and girls,” said K. Sujata, president and CEO of Chicago Foundation, in a press release. “The 100 Day Fund provides funding for this energy and engagement to continue beyond the inauguration and Women’s Marches, and continue our momentum to achieve gender equity.”
